Roscosmos is a State Corporation that was established in August 2015 to oversee and implement a comprehensive reform of the Russian space industry. State Space Corporation Roscosmos ensures the implementation of the Russian government’s space program and its legal regulation. Roscosmos is also placing orders for the development, manufacture and supply of space equipment and space infrastructure objects. The state corporation is also responsible for international space cooperation and tasked with setting the stage for the future use of results of space activities in the social and economic development of Russia. Roscosmos operates a number of programs for earth science, communication, and scientific research. Future projects include the Soyuz successor, the Prospective Piloted Transport System, scientific robotic missions to one of the Mars moons as well as an increase in Lunar orbit research satellites. As partners in the International Space Station program eyed a return to the Moon and missions to the Lagrange points, developers of the PTK NP vehicle focused on deep-space destinations.

This mission will be the mission with more satellites ever carried to orbit by SpaceX and by a US Launch Vehicle. The Falcon 9 will carry to orbit 64 spacecraft, in particular 15 Micro satellites and 49 cubesats, for 35 customers from 17 countries. It will carry a large variety of spacecraft, ranging from University spacecraft, communication spacecraft, imaging spacecraft, technology demonstrators, art exhibits and a high school spacecraft. 75% of the customers are commercial, while the remaining 25% are government customers. 60% of the spacecraft come from the United States. JAXA Kounotori 7 launch
JAXA’s H-IIB Launch Vehicle No. 7 (H-IIB F7) launched the H-II Transfer Vehicle “KOUNOTORI7” (HTV-7) from the Yoshinobu Launch Complex, at JAXA’s Tanegashima Space Center, Japan, on 22 September 2018, at 17:52 UTC (23 September 2018, at 02:52:27 Japan Standard Time - JST). The unpiloted cargo spacecraft Kounotori 7 is loaded with more than five tons of supplies, water, spare parts and experiments. A Soyuz-FG rocket launched the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft with International Space Station Expedition 57-58 crew members, NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, on 11 October 2018, at 08:40 UTC (14:40 local time).
